Turns out no one replied to my post at codegrrl (THANX GAIZ), and the reply at TFL forums only has a workaround. Is this a possible Enth-wide non-working feature? Does Enthusiast 3‘s SMTP mail feature just NOT WORK? Anyway, the fix is to just set it to use PHP’s native mail function and set all the fanlistings’ emails as your checkable, real, full-fledged address. There will be a tutorial post about this at Mt whenever it’s back up because cripe this took me a YEAR to fix.

Remember when TFL closed my Koda Kumi Yume no Uta fl for pretty much no reason? Now it’s BACK. Took a year for me to find the time again to get it running, but it is there. Woohoo?

The new Twinkle fl I applied for is up too. They’re both just simple layouts, no real content, but that’s all I have time for. I updated the rest of my fanlistings, too.

That is the most work I’ve done in my site in at least 6 months. Some absolute off-the-wall bullshit has been happening to me IRL and online, so it might be another 5 months before anything happens on this network again. But as I have said before, everything is paid up, and I intend to keep paying. And I truly do intend to put things back up, I just really have no motivation. Or time. I can’t even manage RL, so yeah.

Oh, and I updated the main pages at 白雨, Mt, and r&s. I removed the “OMG HELP ENTH ESPLODED” crap and edited the messages a bit.

A year ago I stopped doing paid posts. It wasn’t worth it to me, to have a zero page rank because I basically wrote fake posts for every other post on my blog. I was devaluing the very small value of what I had up by pretty much spamming myself.

A few months after that, I removed a few people from my links page because they did paid posts. These people made a BFD out of it, even allowing their links list to basically flame me for stating my opinion on my own website. I still feel entirely justified in doing such. I’m very sorry to have hurt anyone’s feelings, but I have a right to my opinion. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness -> American citizen, yo. PPP (now known as Izea) posts makes blogs unappealing to me. There is NO other way to put that. I just don’t like going to a site and seeing ads, let alone reading actual posts that are nothing but ad copy. If I want to buy stuff, I go to the store or shop online for it. I have a slew of Firefox plugins installed purposely for blocking ads. I maintain a ridiculously strict spam keyword list for my email addresses.

I think paid posts are against the whole point of having your own domain. The original reason people with personal blogs and stuff bought their own websites was so they could control the content. To run the scripts they wanted, and to control the look of it precisely. To fill it with ads, when people originally left hosted blogging services because of ads just makes no sense to me.

To those paid posters who I talked to/commented on/linked to before my year long hiatus, well, here’s how it will be: I won’t link your site on my sidebar/links page, use my link in any comments I leave for you, or have click-able links to your site in my comments. It doesn’t mean I hate you or I think you’re an awful person or that you’re going to burn in eternal flame or whatever. It means I don’t want to read ads, and I don’t want my readers (yeah, all zero of them) to be linked to ads. Plain and simple.

This basically stemmed from me finding out that PPP freaking sponsors tweets now. That was the last straw. I’m actually pretty selective about my twitterings, and I don’t follow any celebrities/brands/whatever for the sole purpose that I don’t like ads.

I’ve also been trying to decide what to do about my hosting for a while now. I have two hostees, Becca and Kristin.

Becca does some PPP/sponsored stuff on her blog, on subdomain of Mt. Kristin has a graphics/photography site.

I’ve decided that any further hostees will not be allowed to place ads or do sponsored/paid anything. I feel it’s abusing my very underfunded charity.

Paid posting/linking/and advertising has officially been banned from the 白雨 network. As of 2010, all my sites are ad-free.

And no word from TFL on the two fanlistings I applied for.

I’ve already been too much of a bother to my host, Holdfire, whose tech support has been more than patient with me. More than likely one of the code-geniuses can tell me what’s wrong here.

Oh yeah and I’m still here and alive and all that junk. Not seriously working on anything, just trying to make it through finals in one piece.

The other day I got an email from TFL stating the Memorial address fanlisting was in troubles. Their reason was that the link to: http://fan.misstuned.com/memorial/ was “dead”.

If you check that URL out, you’ll see there’s a memo stating that the fanlisting has moved, and even a note stating that I submitted a moved form to TFL.

It’s quite possible that I may have neglected to push the submit button or something, but it’s also possible that TFL just never processed my moved form.

That would explain why I am the only member…

Anyway, I hope they don’t make me close my fanlisting or submit another moved form or something, because I think that would be quite rude of them, considering that I replied within two days of the notification…

At the very least, I want a Jpop/Kpop review blog. Not as if there aren’t any out there, but it would be fun for me.

Perhaps when school is out for the semester, I can get on that. I’d like to reopen things for 2010. (Since between classes and work, my schedule is pretty full.)

I don’t know.

Anyway, about the Enthusiast errors on my fanlistings, my ticket to Holdfire was put on the back burner and somehow got overlooked. I replied to the same ticket, so maybe this can get resolved soon. I’d really love to be able to have things work properly. I hope it wouldn’t be an error on my end, because I’ve gone through CodeGrrl and looked over the PEAR documentation I could find and it really seems to me that the PHP sendmail and PEAR Net_SMTP services are disabled on my server.

Holdfire seems to be pretty helpful, though, so we’ll see.

First off, my domain’s catch-all email address has been stuffed with megabytes of SPAM for over a year and a half now, so I’m sitting here, slowly deleting them, 999 at a time, every five minutes or so, so as to not overload the server. So far I’ve gotten down from about 109,000 to about 70,000 of them.

Second, my mail notifications from a full-fledged email account that I can check have never worked with Enthusiast on my FLs. Also, I’ve never been able to use POP/SMTP properly with the same account. So, I submitted a support ticket to Holdfire.

It’s not much, but I’m alive, and still thinking about this, and doing a little something about it. That’s better than nothing, right?
